Planning and M/E
Description:
We have posted several Care Group and Monitoring & Evaluation tools for your use. Please briefly acknowledge the organization that developed thesemanu in your reports when you use them (e.g., “We used a Care Group planning tool (developed by FH) to determine the number of Promoters and Care Group Volunteers for Sofala Province.”) Please send us your tools as well for consideration! We will post the most useful ones. Care Groups: A Training Manual for Program Design and Implementation 2014. This guide was developed in 2012 by Food for the Hungry as a training resource and toolkit to aid in the design, training, implementation, and monitoring of Care Group programs. It includes lesson plans for a one-week training course designed to train HQ and field management how to set up Care Groups and begin implementation. It is also a great resource for HQ staff in the proposal writing stages. It has been modified and adapted by members of the Care Group Forward working group, and the FSN Network Social and Behavioral Change Task Force.
This tool allows you to enter demographic data and have an estimation of the number of Care Groups, Promoters, and Care Group volunteers needed, as well as estimates of the beneficiary population that you will serve.
This Care Group Budget Template has been used by FH as a starting point for budget development in many of its CG projects. The template can help you to remember important costs that should be included in most CG projects.
This checklist helps donors and others decide if a project is a Care Group project or not. It is based on the Care Group Criteria document.
These files (zipped) provide an example of how LQAS can be used to periodically measure changes in behavior and provide concise feedback to each district on what they need to continue to work on. More details are given in the document, “Overview of FH LQAS Use with Care Groups.doc”.
Barrier Analysis Tools (unavailable)
This worksheet helps with the tabulation and analysis of Barrier Analysis studies, a tool that is often used in conjunction with Care Groups. This Word document (Worksheet direction) explains how to use the BA tabulation worksheet.Quality Improvement Verification Checklists (QIVC)
Statistical Calculators and worksheets
This zipped file contains English and Spanish versions of Excel worksheets for calculating sample size (for one-time and repeat studies); generating indicator confidence intervals for both categorical and continuous data (for LQAS/SRS [d.e.=1] and cluster sampling [d.e.=2]); a worksheet that helps you choose interview areas for cluster sampling and LQAS (i.e, an automatic sampling frame); and LQAS tabulation tables where you plug in your data and project targets, decision rules are calculated automatically, and a sheet summarizes which project supervision areas are above and below target and above and below average coverage. A demo table is also included that shows how this last LQAS sheet works (with fictitious data inserted). These sheets can be used in Care Group and non-Care Group projects.
